Detroit natives Kristen Calverley and Nate Peck first started dreaming of opening MICHIGAN&TRUMBULL upon moving to Pittsburgh in 2012. Peck’s devotion to the culinary industry began during his time at Cafe Via in Birmingham, Michigan where he learned French culinary technique under two talented chefs. Calverley was similarly inspired working alongside Jennifer Gerasole at Girasole Restaurant in Shadyside. After trying every pizza in Pittsburgh, they set their sights on creating their very own Detroit-style pizza to take their new city by storm. For Nate, perfecting the dough became a passion à la Nancy Silverton. The result is a pizza that is airy, yet has a crispy and caramelized crust, cooked in the same blue steel pans from the assembly lines of the old auto plants. MICHIGAN&TRUMBULL takes it name from the cross streets of the original Tiger Stadium, a Detroit institution, and home to so many memories for both of their families.
